Combine both of Georgia’s most exotic mountain regions into one trip -Tusheti and Svaneti. This adventure climbs over high mountain passes, delves deep into canyons and transports us into worlds where people still live according to ancient culture and traditions; We will visit remote villages filled with extraordinary stone towers built in the Middle Ages. Surrounding them are river gorges, dense forests, alpine zones and snowy peaks; En route we also explore Tbilisi, Mtskheta and many other country highlights.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Tbilisil. Day 2: Full day city tour of Tbilisi. Day 3: Excursion to David Gareji Monastery. Continue to Kakheti province. Overnight in Telavi. Day 4: Depart for Tusheti Province by 4x4 car. Cross the Caucasian Main Range over Abano Pass at 2960m. down to village Shenako. Days 5 and 6: The following two days we visit such amazing medieval villages as Diklo, Dartlo, Parsma and Omalo. We enjoy the superb views of the landscapes ranging from river valleys to towering snowy peaks. We travel by 4WD cars, but also take easy walks. In Tusheti we stay at private houses. Day 7: Drive to Tbilisi. On the way visit Alaverdi Cathedral and make an excursion to Tsinandali Park and the winery. Night in Tbilisi. Day 8: Excursion in Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. Continue to Gori and visit Uplistsikhe cave town. Arrive in Kutaisi. Day 9: Drive to Zugdidi, from where we journey to Svaneti by 4WD cars. We reach Mestia, provincial centre of Svaneti. Day 10: Mestia is surrounded by huge Caucasian mountains Ushba (4710m) and Tetnuldi (4975m) – some of the most severe and beautiful summits of the Caucasus. We also visit the traditional Svanetian house museum. Day 11: Drive to village Ushguli. Visit the village, its medieval towers, Lamaria Church and enjoy the views of Mt. Shkhara (5201m). Night in Ushguli. Day 12: Walk to the foot of Mt. Shakhara. Return Ushguli. Drive to Mestia. Day 13: Drive down along the Enguri Valley to Zugdidi and continue to Kutaisi. Day 14: Visit Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery. Arrive Tbilisi. Day 15: End of the tour.
